Ronan Leonard's single is released on Thursday in The Atrium.

‘Where Am I' single to support TEAM

‘Where Am I’ is a new song by Ronan Leonard in aid of TEAM (Temporary Emergency Accommodation Midlands) and this Thursday, February 28, Ronan hosts a concert to launch it, at The Atrium, Mullingar (5.30pm).

The song is taken from a new album by Ronan called Forbidden Fruit, due out in the coming months.

“It originated from my experience with helping at a soup kitchen in Navan. At Christmas I go up and play a few tunes for them, sing a few songs, and chatting to the men and women inspired me to write ‘Where Am I’,” said Ronan.

“I thought it was poignant and resonates with TEAM and the work they are doing. I suppose it’s more of a questioning song, “there but for the grace of God go I” sort of thing, and you begin to realise how lucky you are.

“I found from chatting to people that they are resilient, not looking for handouts, they are looking at how to access the system again, how to get back on their feet. They have their dignity.

“I thought why not release it in honour of the work TEAM are doing. There will be copies of the CD on sale on Thursday for a fiver, and all the proceeds go to TEAM.”

TEAM’s hostel, Teach Fáilte opened in 2009, and offers comfort and security to women in an emergency homeless situation.

Ronan is a singer songwriter and guitarist from Delvin, who has many years experience performing live all over Europe and, in January 2015, Las Vegas.

Ronan has released a series of albums of his own songs that have gained critical acclaim and airplay, including a live slot on the Pat Kenny Show. The most recent recordings have been made at Ronan’s home studio in Delvin and were produced by Garvan Gallagher.
