McDermott now top of table in Kinnegad
Several candidates have rallied as the final sets of tallies in Westmeath have arrived and been added to the mix.
From a nervous hour during which his position looked shaky, now, with all boxes counted, Frank McDermott is top of the table in Kinnegad, and John Dolan is occupying a mid-table position in Athlone.
The overall party breakdown is 36.3% to Fianna Fáil, 23.3% to Fine Gael, 10.3% to Labour, 5.8% to Sinn Féin, 8.9% to Independents and 3.4% for the Greens.
Interestingly, the Green candidate in Athlone, Louise Heavin, is currently fifth on the Athlone table with 592 votes. The projected quota there is 1,449.
