Dolan elected for Athlone

John Dolan was elected for Athlone on the seventh count.

Paul Hogan, also Athlone, originally a Sinn Féin councillor but latterly Independent, has been eliminated as has Sorca Clarke in Mullingar LEA – the only Sinn Féin member who was left on the outgoing council.

Green candidate Hazel Smyth is now “a cert” to take final seat in Mullingar, which will see off Gerry Heery’s well-run race to take a second FG seat in that LEA.
