Photo shows - the late Grace Brennan in the 1990s

Tributes are being paid today to Grace Brennan, who has died.

Mrs Brennan was well known for her involvement in local radio and the arts scene, including the Scribblers group, whose members are among those to remember her today.

Anne Maher, a member of Scribblers, Mullingar, paid the following tribute on behalf of the group:

Learning of the death of Grace Brennan, a woman with a dream, a passion to set up a writing group in Mullingar in 2002, with six anthologies later of poems and prose, we not only remember her, but honour her great contribution and personal commitment to the literary community in Mullingar and beyond.

Over the years, she left an indelible mark on all who have had the good fortune to cross her path.

Her courteous and welcoming nature reached out to invite and encourage authors from around the country to facilitate workshops hosted in the Annebrook House Hotel, where Scribblers meet weekly on Monday nights.

Sincere gratitude to Bertie Dunne and his wonderful staff.

An excellent wordsmith, Grace was at home with great writers, Noel Monahan, Catherine Dunne, Mary Melvin-Geoghegan, Audrey Healy, Michael Farry, Tina Kellegher, Michael O’Dea, Geraldine Mills, Macdara Woods, Mary Nolan, Mary Turley-McGrath, Frank Galligan, Jean O’Brien, Niall Donnelly, Mary O’Rourke, John Ennis and Peter Sheridan.
