Triple glory for Lynn Singers

Lynn Singers under the direction of Dervilla Conlon Maloney, and accompanied by Adam Collins, have recently achieved major success in the City of Derry International Choral Festival.

The choral festival, on October 19-23, was attended by choirs from throughout Ireland, the UK and other parts of the world, and Lynn Singers were awarded first prize in the National Sacred Music and the National Youth Choir competitions.

Later on Sunday evening at the gala concert which concluded the festival, they were once more honoured by being presented with the Bishop’s Gate Hotel Award. This is the highest award on offer for choirs from Ireland and the UK, who have competed, during the festival, across all categories.

In their short existence Lynn Singers have been no strangers to success. During 2015, their first year competing at both national and international level, they achieved first place at the Feis Ceoil and attained second prize in the City of Derry International Choral Festival and the Sligo Choral Festival for female choirs.

“Lynn Singers are a very committed group of ladies,” said Dervilla.
“Our vision is not only to provide enjoyment for performers and audiences but to strive to attain the highest quality in the performance of the diverse repertoire.

“We’re fortunate to have the talented accompanist Adam Collins from Mullingar to support this vision. We are committed to bringing both choral music of the highest quality to the Midlands and Mullingar.”

Lynn Singers invite all music lovers to their annual winter concert on November 25 at 7.30pm in St Paul’s Church, Delvin Road, Mullingar, where they will be joined on the night by the RTÉ ConTempo Quartet. This year’s concert is being run in aid of The Longford Westmeath Friends of Mullingar General Hospital MRI Scanner Fund and it represents a great opportunity for everyone to support this worthy local cause while enjoying an evening’s entertainment of the highest quality.

Tickets for this event are available fromJust Books, Pearse Street, and Mount Street's Topic Newsagents and are priced at €20 each. Lynn Singers would like to thank all the local businesses and individuals who have supported them financially and in any other way to date.
