Table Quiz finalists go forward to All Ireland final

Aoibheann Gorman, Eadaoinn Coyle, Emily Bollard and Charity Musasa from the Convent Primary School, Rochfortbridge, have secured a place in the All Ireland Credit Union Table Quiz on April 5.The Castlelost Credit Union held a very successful Table Quiz recently in the Parish Hall, Rochfortbridge, in which 24 teams, made up of local school children, took part.The two winning teams, the Under 11s and the Under 13s, from Convent Primary School and Scoil Bhride respectively, went forward to represent to the Chapter 15 final in Moate on February 27 last, sponsored by the Castlelost Credit Union.The Girls Under 11 team came second and now go forward to represent the Castlelost Credit Union in the All-Ireland Final on April 5 in the RDS Dublin.The Scoil Bhride Boys School Under 13 team, made up of Bobby Gonoud, Andrew Bollard, Sean Downey and Jude Keegan also did themselves proud, coming third, but unfortunately missing out on a place in the final by just one pointThe board of management of Castlelost Credit Union wish to thank the children and teachers of the local schools that took part in the recently held Table Quiz.Power plant application - Bord na Móna Energy Limited has applied to An Bord Pleanála to construct a power plant at Derrygreenagh in Rochfortbridge, that is expected to employ up to 63 when the station is up and running, as well as hundreds of construction jobs.The station will consist of two units: ac. 170 megawatt distillate/natural gas-fired Open Cycle Gas Turbine or OCGT unit. and ac. 430 megawatt natural gas-fired Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) unit.The development will comprise of electricity generating units, an above ground natural gas installation (AGI), an electrical switchyard, an access road and associated infrastructure.The Open Cycle electricity generation unit will comprise of a turbine hall, a main stack, transformers, coolers and a control room, while the Combined Cycle electricity unit will consist of a turbine hall, a heat recovery steam generator building, a main stack, an air cooled condenser (ACC), an electrical building, transformers, coolers, an auxiliary boiler and stack, a control room, and an ACC motor control centre room.Elements common to both units include backup distillate fuel storage tanks, a water treatment plant, water storage tanks, a workshop, a stores building, an administration building, an effluent treatment plant, a fire pump house, an emergency diesel generator, all associated internal and external equipment, pumps, tanks, pipe racks and kids, car parks and all associated roads and above and below-ground infrastructure.The AGI will comprise of above-ground gas pipes and equipment, a control building and all associated infrastructure.An environmental impact statement has been prepared and the facility will also need an Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) licence from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).The application and the EIS may be inspected free of charge or purchased for a period of seven weeks, starting on Monday, March 9 at An Bord Pleanala offices at 64 Malborough Street, Dublin 1, or at the Offaly County Council buildings, Charleville Road, Tullamore.You can also view them at www.derrygreenaghpower.ieThe public can make submissions or observations until Friday, April 24.St. Brigid"s Table Quiz - St. Brigid"s will hold a table quiz this Friday night, March 6 in Daly"s Lounge at 9.30pm.
