Support sought for Kinnegad benefit night

Good causes are continuing to count on the generosity of the people of Kinnegad and surrounding districts, and on March 28, that generosity is being called on once again.The lounge of Denis Coyne"s pub on Main Street, Kinnegad will be the venue for a benefit night in aid of Breast Cancer Research on Saturday night, starting at 9.30pm sharp.There are some terrific prizes to be won in what"s expected to be a frantic night full of activities, refreshments and craic, with music ably provided by Quite Frankly.Finger food will also be served, and your support would be appreciated.No winner of GAA jackpotFive people shared the €200 match three prize pool in last week"s Coralstown/Kinnegad GAA Lucky Numbers Draw. There was no winner of the €3,000 jackpot, and the numbers drawn were 12, 20, 22 and 25.Three different tickets landed a match three prize, with five people benefiting. They were: Ger and Theresa, Trish Nolan, and Alan and Jason.In neighbouring Clonard meanwhile, there was no winner of the €2,800 jackpot in last week"s Clonard GAA and Community Council Lotto Draw. The numbers drawn were 6, 18, 19 and 23.The match three winners, who share a total of €150, were Theresa Cannon, Lorraine Plunkett, David Jones and James Smullen.The late Pat Oxley, Kinnegad- On Monday of last week, March 16, Kinnegad man Patrick (Pat) Oxley passed to his eternal reward at the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore after an illness borne with great dignity and courage.Pat, who came from a highly respected family with a long tradition in the Killucan and Kinnegad area, was an exceptionally well thought of member of the agricultural community in Kinnegad and Westmeath, and he had a huge respect for the land and for nature.This love for the natural world was reflected in his love and respect for the environment, and his commitment to the best farming practices.Son of the late Michael and Maureen, Pat is survived by his brothers Tommy, Michael, Aidan and Joe, his sisters Maureen, Colette, Concepta and Eithne, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.After reposing at his sister Colette"s residence at the Pass of Kilbride, Milltownpass, Pat was removed to the Church of the Assumption, Kinnegad on Wednesday, March 18, with funeral Mass for the repose of his soul celebrated on the following (Thursday) morning. A large crowd attended both his removal and the subsequent Requiem Mass.Pat was then interred at Rathwire Cemetery.
