Wayne Brennan returns to The Stables

The critically acclaimed singer songwriter Wayne Brennan will make a welcome return to The Stables, Mullingar on Friday, March 27, with support on the night from new band Whatever Jones.Hailing from County Offaly, Wayne is currently enjoying widespread interest in his music, which meshes together such diverse genres as reggae, flamenco, country, metal and rock, all based in obvious Irish roots.Wayne has released his uplifting single "Please Please" last month, taken from the awe inspiring album In My Hands, set for release in May, and which is sure to see support for this man grow even stronger. And it"s no wonder, as his enigmatic craft with an instrument has been described as 'nothing short of astonishing'.Of course it helps to have a musical background but Wayne himself is self-educated in the art of instrumentation, song writing and singing, which is profound considering his vast eclectic style.Wayne has played on stage with many renowned artists such as The Gypsy Kings, Alabama 3, Brian Kennedy, Aslan, Natty Wailer, Jack L, Mick Flannery and The Coronas. If modestly experiencing a Top 20 Irish charted Single wasn"t enough Wayne is also a firm favourite with legendary DJ Larry Gogan.First up on the night though is the recently formed Whatever Jones, made up of Damian Farrell on vocals and guitar, Kevin Connolly on guitar, Damian O"Connor on bass and Alan Mannion on drums. These guys have played together for years in different band line-ups and have had moderate success with their own covers band Overload.Formed in early 2008, Whatever Jones have made a name for themselves in a relatively short space of time, touring the highways and byways of the midlands to a growing legion of fans.Known for their energy on stage and catchy guitar riffs, their influences include indie punk rock to acoustic rock songs, and on the night they will be playing a mixture of both original and cover music.'Famous in Birr' after headlining the Vintage Festival there last summer, Whatever Jones made an impact over the last St. Patrick"s weekend, when they came second in the Banagher parade for their performance aboard a boat float (it was a St. Patrick"s parade afterall!), managing to rock out the tunes as well as the crowd! You can catch both Wayne Brennan and Whatever Jones in the Stables this Friday. Doors open at 10 o"clock.
