Garda to advise Chamber members on security

Mullingar Chamber of Commerce has asked a Crime Prevention Unit garda to advise its members on retail security, in the wake of the recent spate of 'tiger kidnappings', Martha Clancy, has revealed.Sgt. John Connolly is to speak to Chamber members at the Greville Arms Hotel on Tuesday March 24 at 5.30 p.m. on such items as CCTV, retail scams, business security - and of course, the 'tiger kidnappings', in which gangs hold families hostage while sending one member off to get money from their workplaces to free them.The seminar is the second in a series currently being organised by the Chamber, the first having been on Employment Law and Health and Safety on Friday February 27. A huge crowd attended that seminar, at which the guest speakers were Michael O"Sullivan, Director of Arra HRD Ltd, a Human Resources Management Consultancy, Colm O"Connor Employment Law Specialist with JA Shaw and Company Solicitors, Marguerite Buckley, Buckley & Company Solicitors and Edel Mc Keon, Health and Safety Consultant with ORS.Attendees were presented with up to date information on altering terms and conditions of employment, redundancy issues, preparing for NERA inspection and also complying with health and safety standards in the work place.
