President to visit Grange

President McAleese will be making an official visit to Grange on April 21 and plans to address people from the estate from within a marquee which will be erected outside the community centre. The visit was confirmed last night by Regimental Sergeant Major Noel O"Callaghan who extended the invitation on behalf of the Grange Community group.RSM O"Callaghan said that President McAleese would address the people of the area after she had officially opened the childcare facility. The planned visit is the result of an invite extended to the President from the Grange Community Group which has recently reformed. The sergeant major said that the President was aware of the incidents that had occurred in the Grange area last summer and that the intention of her address was to lift the spirits of people in the area.'The President will be shown the childcare facilities after the official opening,' said RSM O"Callaghan. 'What we are planning to do is have a marquee outside the community centre from which the president can then address the people of the area.'Details of the events are still to be confirmed but we are hoping that perhaps the Mullingar Town Band will be able to play on the day and we are thinking of a piece from Genesis to present to President McAleese. The committee has yet to decide on what that will be but one idea that has been put forward is a piece depicting the Children of Lir.'Whatever the committee decides the day will be a great boost for the area.'
