Mullingar man appointed chairman of MS Ireland

A Mullingar resident has been named this week as chairman of the board of MS Ireland, the services, information and research society supporting people affected by Multiple Sclerosis.Manfred Huschka, who is vice-president global sales of Taconic ADD, has a long-time interest in the issue of multiple sclerosis, and he brings to this new, voluntary role, the benefit of his twenty years of senior management experience in the electronics and wireless manufacturing industry in Germany and Ireland.His business activities see him travelling extensively to the USA and Asia.Improvement of the quality of life of people with MS is Manfred's key objective within MS Ireland. Manfred believes that adopting a healthy lifestyle is central to maintaining the wellbeing of the MS community.Married with two children, Manfred lives in Westmeath, having moved there from Germany more than 10 years ago.He said this week that he felt honoured to have been elected chairman of MS Ireland: "I will make best use of all of my gained managerial experience to guide MS Ireland through the current economic situation in Ireland, which affects all voluntary charity organisations," he stated.MS Ireland is governed by a Board of 16 voluntary members. These members contribute a wide range of experience and skills. Some of the members have MS themselves or have family members with MS while others have long careers in business, social services and other areas. The Board promotes the vision and aims of the Society and charges the Chief Executive to meet these aims through the various departments, services and resources of the Society.
