Niall Horan has reportedly come under fire from some fans for saying he was looking forward to England's elimination from Euro 2012.
Niall, who is currently on tour in the US, told his 4m plus Twitter followers on Saturday night that he was looking forward to England leaving the competition following their quarter final encounter with Italy the following day.
"Just got to Houston! Bedtime. Watch England get knocked out of Euros tomorrow! Wohoo," he tweeted.
Niall's tweet did not go down too well with some of 1D's English fans. One not so happy Twitter follower told him that he "should be supporting England considering you live in it".
Another fan retweeted Niall's comments, adding the tag: "Houston I think we got a problem," while one angry follower suggested to other fans that they should unfollow the young singer on the social networking site.
The One Direction lads have used Twitter to send a number of football related messages during the Euros.
After England's victory over Ukraine on Tuesday evening of last week, Niall's bandmate Harry Styles sent him a message that suggested the Westmeath man had made his thoughts on the England team's prospects very clear before last weekend:
"In Your Face. England Won. I wish I could see your face."
Meanwhile, Niall's Twitter growing Twitter following led to him being dubbed the 'king of the 140 word domain'.
According to a report in the Irish Examiner, Niall has more than 4,250,000 followers, almost three times as many as the next most popular Irish tweeter, life coach Sinead Duffy.
