Men wanted to get on the move

Men on the Move Westmeath is an initiative of Westmeath Sports Partnership with the aim of encouraging men aged 30 to 65 years to increase their physical activity levels and to gain a better knowledge of the importance of physical activity for general health.

The programme starts this week, Tuesday August 12 (7.30pm), at Columb Barracks, which will include a general introduction to the programme for all participants.

The sessions are tailored for men of all fitness levels, and Evan McCormack at Westmeath Sports Partnership encourages men to use the opportunity to become more physically active and improve their health and wellbeing.

He says that will be achieved through a six-week physical activity programme to include two sessions a week: strength and conditioning sessions on Tuesday evenings with qualified instructor, Maurice Looby; and boxercise on Thursday evenings with Elite Boxing Gym, Mullingar.

A 5km run/walk will be completed after the six-week programme.

There will be a fee of €3 per session or €27 for all sessions up-front.

Places are limited to 20, but you can register by contacting Evan McCormack at Westmeath Sports Partnership on 087 2800051 and 044 9390208 or evan@westmeathsports.ie.
