Nevin returns to ring on saturday

John Joe Nevin returns to the ring this weekend, six months after he suffered a double leg break.

The Olympic silver medalist will begin his comeback from the career threatening injury in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Saturday night in a four round bout. His opponent is yet to be announced.

"It's been the hardest six months of my life, sitting there unable to do anything, watching boxing on the television. Thankfully, I now have the chance to do it all again on Saturday night," Nevin said.

"When the doctors told me I might not box again it was frightening, but I worked hard, kept my head down and stuck with my team and they stuck with me.

"I will stay in Philadelphia for a while after this fight. The sparring you get here is fantastic, all the different styles. You just can't get that at home. We'll have four rounds on Saturday to get me back in the swing of things.

"I'm putting the last six months behind me and looking ahead to my future. Everything is back in place and I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to Saturday night."
