Young westmeath farmer celebrates winning brand new tractor

If young farmer Michael Martin looks happy, it’s not all down to a job that has him out in the fresh air.

It’s because the lucky young Moate man has been named as the winner of a Case IH Farmhall tractor valued at €64,292.

Michael, who is 21, won the tractor in a competition run by Zurich Insurance and the Irish Independent.

He was also also awarded a voucher worth €500 by Zurich Insurance for coming up with a creative name for the tractor in question – the “Al plough-chino”!

Michael, an Agricultural Science graduate from Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology recently returned home to run his family’s drystock farm alongside his grandfather Andy McLoughlin (83).
