Coole yule with voulez vous

If anything can dispel the gloom of winter it is a set of ABBA showtunes, set against a backdrop of sunshine and Greek Islands and young people telling a story that’s filled with sparkle and swing.

So you have it; Voulez Vous, an adaptation of Mama Mia, the successful jukebox musical so packed with ABBA music it’s a wonder a storyline can be piped into the spaces.

Twenty five pupils from Castlepollard Community College have been rehearsing for nearly three months to bring their version of Mama Mia to the stage in Coole Hall and now there is only one week to go until curtain up on Voulez Vous.

“We all knew every song before we started, it’s ABBA and everyone loves ABBA so this has been a great experience for us all,” said Holly O’Donnell, who plays Sophie.

Voulez Vous takes to the stage for only two shows on Friday, December 12 and Saturday, December 13 at 8pm. The school will also stage a matinee show on Thursday, December 11 at noon. Each show will take place in Coole Hall, Coole.

“This talented young cast from Castlepollard Community College have produced a brilliant adaptation of Mama Mia filled with all the fun of the movie and all the great music from the show. It is definitely the show where your feet will be tapping and you’ll be singing along,” said Mary Coyle, school principal.

“I hope that everyone comes along to see the show, it will be a great night’s entertainment. A great night out for Christmas time.”
