Zach Wright (12) achieved his 4-peaks challenge in aid of Cycle Against Suicide.

Mullingar boy 12 clears four peaks challenge in 34 hours

Zach Wright from Lilliput, Mullingar, has scaled Ireland's four highest mountains in just 34 hours, beating his personal goal of 48 hours.

The 12-year-old who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro last year completed this challenge to raise awareness of the Cycle Against Suicide campaign which rolls into Mullingar this Friday evening.

"I took on the challenge to help raise awareness of mental health. I wanted to shout the key Cycle Against Suicide message from the top of the four peaks that ‘it’s ok not to feel ok; and it’s absolutely ok to ask for help’.

Zach scaled over 11, 937 feet after completing the Carrauntoohil climb, Mweelrea in County Mayo, Slieve Donnard in County Down and Lugnauilla in County Wicklow.

"I'm tired. I can hardly feel my body but I'm very proud," Zach told the Westmeath Examiner while making his descent.

Zach is urging people to make a €2 donationby texting the word “ORANGE” to 50300. All proceeds will go towards getting people to all schools nationwide to talk openly about mental health.
