Unsettled weather to persist throughout the weekend

Unsettled weather is to persist throughout the weekend, and likely the rest of May, due to a northeast flow over Ireland.

Rain and spot flooding have been forecast for Friday.

On Saturday, the sun will make some brief appearances interspersed with scattered showers. Temperatures will reach highs of 10 to 14 degrees.

Patchy rain will continue into Sunday, which looks to be a mild and muggy day with highs of 13 to 16 degrees. Met Éireann have issued a yellow warning for potato blight.

The best of the weather looks set to arrive on Monday and Tuesday, when it's set to be mild and sunny, with highest temperatures reaching 14 -18 degrees.
