Inaugural mullingar half marathon raises 16000 for childline

The inaugural Mullingar Half Marathon on St Patrick’s Day was in aid of Childline and 600 people participated, bringing a fantastic energy and atmosphere to the town for the national holiday.

The event had a sequel on Friday May 1, when the organising committee presented the proceeds to Paul Halpin, regional fundraiser with Childline: the €16,000 raised will go directly towards the Mullingar branch of Childline to allow it and its hard-working volunteers to continue their vital service.

The ISPCC (Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children), which runs Childline, is Ireland’s leading independent children’s charity advocating for the rights, wellbeing and protection of children. Since its formation more than 100 years ago, the ISPCC has sought to develop and deliver services in locations throughout Ireland.

The organising committee of the Mullingar Half Marathon extends thanks to all the participants and their friends and families, sponsors, business people and residents of Mullingar for the support and goodwill the event received.
