Examiner sponsors 100k runner

The Westmeath Examiner is one of the sponsors backing Maurice Looby as he takes on the World Masters Championships 100k in Winschoten, Holland, on September 12, for team Ireland.

Our €200 contribution joins a pair of runners from Tri and Run in Mullingar and €150 from Lagan Cement – and Maurice is hoping for more sponsors, as his total costs will run to more than €3,000 and Athletics Ireland is not in a position to cover that.

Among his plans is a sponsored bag pack at Tesco Kinnegad, from 11am on Friday August 18 and on Friday September 4 (organised by Monica Baker, the lady who raised the most individual sponsorship in the Westmeath’s Fittest Company competition organised by Maurice Looby Fitness).

“I’d like to thank the Examiner, as well as Dorothy at Tri and Run and the teams at Lagan Cement and Tesco Kinnegad,” said Maurice, “and if anyone else is in a position to offer sponsorship, they can contact me via my Facebook page!”

Maurice has been selected to run for Ireland in 2015 the World Masters Championships 100k race on September 12 at Winschoten, Netherlands.
