Mullingar jam on john lennon tour bus

Mullingar youth music group Mullingar Music Jam will participate in the international John Lennon Educational Tour made possible through Music Generation Offaly Westmeath.

The bus, which contains a fully equipped music studio, is offering an opportunity to aspiring young Westmeath and Offaly musicians and will roll into the grounds of Columb Barracks, Mullingar, on August 28.

A number of members will be involved in advancing their skill set and will be introduced to new skills.

With the assistance of three on-board engineers, young musicians learn how to write, perform, record, and produce original songs, produce and shoot music videos and documentaries and complete a broadcast quality music video.

Margaret Broome, development officer of Music Generation Offaly, Westmeath, said: “It’s wonderful to see young people from our successful Mullingar Music Jam and Edenderry Rockers community music projects having the opportunity to put their musical skills into practice on the John Lennon Bus.”

This visit is part of a 24-day tour of 12 counties and will reach more than 100 young musicians throughout Ireland.

Mullingar is the last stop on the Irish leg.

The John Lennon Educational Tour, made possible by Yoko Ono Lennon, is dedicated to providing young people with tours of the studios and participation in free song writing and multimedia production workshops.
