Weather hurricane joaquin and its path past ireland

There was plenty of speculation in the early part of the week whether Ireland would be in for the tail-end of ex hurricane Joaquin.

Now it looks as though the threat has been averted for the weekend, with its path aimed more towards Portugal and Spain.

And when it eventually arrives in Europe, a much weaker version of the originally powerful storm is expected.

The most we can expect is some cloud cover and a little rain. There will be a moderate southeast to south wind flow that may reach 30-50 km/hr at times.

Highs each day near 14 C and lows 7-9 C under cloud, perhaps a bit lower further east (4-7 C) where cloud may be more broken.

Thursday is to start chilly according to Met Éireann but temperatures will remain mild reaching highs of 16 degrees later in the day.

Friday will see some good sunny spells and dry weather, with similar values forecast for Saturday.
