VIDEO: Aoife hopes viral video will reach U2

Eleven year old Aoife Lambert from Rathconrath “still hasn’t found what [she’s] looking for”. But she remains optimistic that this Tuesday - when she travels to the 3 Arena to see the band in concert - she will find a way of achieving her dream: meeting the members of U2.

Aoife reckons she’s Ireland’s youngest U2 fan, and a video that she has made, appealing to get the chance to meet U2, has received thousands of views since her dad, Kieran, put it online for her last week.

If you want to help Aoife, share her video, in the hope that someone who is close to U2 can pass on her appeal to the band. “When I was three, I was listening to them in the car with my dad,” says Aoife, recalling how her love for the band started.

“The first song of theirs I remembering getting to know was ‘City of Blinding Lights’,” she continues.

A singer and guitarist herself, Aoife, who ion the video is proudly wearing a teeshirt from the band’s current tour, bought for her in London by her godfather reckons there is no-one out there who has ever come near to equalling U2.

And so, when they announced their 3 Arena dates, she was thrilled when her dad said he would bring her - if they could get tickets.

“You could only get the tickets online, so we got ten different people to try and get tickets, as well as us,” says Kieran, explaining that they used the FB messaging app to keep track of what stage they were each at.

Finally, one of the party succeeded in buying two tickets.

“All the tickets sold out in 15 minutes,” says Kieran.

For Aoife, this Tuesday’s trip to Dublin won’t be just her first time to see U2, but her first time at a concert.
