Mullingar's Larry Mulligan and Navan's Kevin McHugh in Endure documentary

Light House Cinema to screen Endure documentary

In 2010 Larry Mulligan, from Mullingar, and Kevin McHugh, from Navan, embarked on the adventure of a lifetime when they set out to cycle around the world in 10 months.

Along the way they were joined in Australia by Eoin McCartney, from Ardee, on this one-off endurance challenge, which saw the cycling trio clock up more than 60,000 kilometres and raise €32,500 for the Irish Cancer Society.

The Light House Cinema is hosting a special screening tomorrow, Tuesday March 22, of a documentary charting the 300-day round the globe cycling challenge taken by the three young Irish men.

Endure charts the gruelling cycling challenge taken by friends, Larry, Kevin, and Eoin, which not only put them through their paces, both mentally and physically, but also raised over €30,000 for the Irish Cancer Society.

This 70-minute documentary produced from on the road video footage puts the audience in the saddle, capturing the thrills and spills of the trio’s epic adventure.

Produced by Wishka Films it follows their journey across 27 countries, from the open plains of South America to the wild jungles of India, and will whet the appetite of any would-be thrill-seekers.

Speaking about the film, director and editor of ‘Endure’ Vincent McEntee said, “This has been a once in a lifetime experience for everyone involved. We’re now hoping that Endure will raise further funds for the Irish Cancer Society through downloads and rental and that it will also inspire others to take part in the Society’s ‘Trek4Life’ fundraising adventures to Kilimanjaro or Machu Picchu”.

‘Endure’ has already been screened at a number of film festivals across Ireland and internationally and from March 22nd it will be available to buy (€10) or rent (€5) from www.enduredocumentary.com, with proceeds from sales and rentals going to the Irish Cancer Society.

On the night the Irish Cancer Society and its trek supplier, Earth’s Edge, will also be on hand with details of Trek4Life challenges to Kilimanjaro or Machu Picchu throughout 2016.

• The film is being screened at the Light House Cinema in Smithfield at 6.30pm on Tuesday as part of an ‘Extreme Challenge’ event being hosted by the Irish Cancer Society. The event was inspired by the grit and determination of Larry, Kevin, and Eoin, who literally went to the ends of the earth to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society.
