The picnic area at Ladeston will be busy at the weekend, if the sun shines.

Bank holiday weather: middlin'!

The May bank holiday is this weekend, so the weather will be... guess what? Fair to middlin’, as me mother would say!

The forecast for Sunday and Monday is for slightly milder weather, and in Ireland the 12-15 degrees Met Éireann anticipate means we can (probably) leave the coats behind.

Here’s what the professional forecasters say:

Friday night will be mainly dry with clear spells and just a few showers on northwest coasts.

It will be cold with lowest temperatures of -1 to +2 degrees and with frost in places.

Saturday will be a bright day with sunny spells and some well scattered showers.

Highest temperatures 9 to 11 degrees.

On Saturday night a band of heavy rain will move eastwards across the country.

Sunday will start off mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain.

It will brighten up with a mix of dry periods and some showers. I

t will be noticeably milder with highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees and moderate westerly breezes.

Through Sunday night, another band of rain will cross the country.

It will clear eastwards on Monday morning with showers following for the rest of the day, some heavy.

Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees with fresh, gusty westerly winds.
