Local businessman buys McElhinney's of Athboy premises

The former McElhinney's Ladies Fashion Store in Athboy has been bought by a local businessman.

Athboy-based independent councillor, David Gilroy, has welcomed the news that the landmark premises has been sold.

"After being taken into receivership late last year the building has been sitting empty gathering dust," Cllr Gilroy said.

"There was alot of interest reported and some feared that the considerable site may be purchased and left "to mature"," he continued. "The news that a local man, already a large and well regarded employer in the area has taken ownership of the premises couldn't come any better."

Cllr Gilroy added: "The news comes as another most welcome step forward in the development of the Athboy area. Athboy is a town on the move, the levels of cooperation and community spirit in the area are known far and beyond. A truly fantastic place to work and live and investments such this provide a huge a vote of confidence in its future."
