Traffic disruption on Mount Street as ESB supply to be upgraded

There will be disruption to traffic this week as Mount Street is to receive an upgrade to its ESB supply as part of the Mullingar Courthouse project.

ESB Networks will install underground ducting to provide a new ESB supply as part of a network upgrade in the area and will see roadworks commence from 7am today, Tuesday, and run to Friday September 30 at 6pm.

BAM Building Ltd will carry out the works, and they say for safety reasons, it will be necessary to alter the current traffic and parking arrangements on Mount Street for a short period of time. These alterations will involve one way traffic from Pearse Street to the existing roundabout just past the pedestrian crossing outside Mullingar Arts Centre.

The traffic lane on the left hand side of Mount Street when facing Pearse Street will also be closed off to allow working space for plant equipment.

Meanwhile, the parking bays along Mount Street will no longer operate during the works period. However, the existing footpaths on Mount Street will remain fully open at all times.

In a statement released by BAM Building LTD, it says both they and ESB Networks wish to apologise for any inconvenience during the course of the upgrade.

“ESB Networks and BAM wish to apologise for any inconvenience caused and wish to reassure all business and property that any disruption to traffic flow and parking will be kept to an absolute minimum. The works will be carried out as quickly as possible so that we can re-open the road in a timely fashion.”
