Temperatures to plummet as sleet and snow forecast

It was a bitterly cold morning this morning but temperatures are set to plummet even further throughout the rest of the week.

Tomorrow, Thursday will turn rather windy and cold, with southeasterly winds reaching between 50-70km/h. The morning will start out cold, between 2 and 4 degrees, with afternoon highs of just 5 degrees. The east coast could see some wintry precipitation.

Friday morning will be cold and breezy in all parts, with hail and even some snow showers forecast. Morning temperatures of -2 to 4 in the afternoon. Winds from the east will be cold and range between 40 - 70km/hr.

Saturday will see a severe frost and temperautes fall as low as -6. Frost is due to persist much of the morning on secondary roads. Very cold east winds will reach up to 60kms in parts, and a mixture of hail, sleet and snow showers could reach the midlands by nightfall. Roads will be treacherous by Saturday night.

Sunday will see more chances of mixed wintry showers, with very cold easterly winds reaching 60kms in places. Morning lows of -5.
