Christmas: a quiet time for births.

When's your birthday?

Ever notice how some times of the year are busy for birthdays?

Well, the Central Statistics Office has worked out what the busiest day in Ireland for births is – and that's October 1, and the second busiest is September 23.

In fact, the whole run of dates between September 16 and October 5 are high scorers on the births front, although the greatest number of births by month occurs in July, followed by May and then September.

On average, 191 babies are born in this country on October 1.

The fewest number of births happen on St Stephen's Day – an average of 112, while on Christmas Day, there is an average of 112 births.

And on average, across the state, there are 145 New Year's babies.
