Mullingar's first Oskars ceremony this week

The first ever Oskars ceremony takes place in Mullingar this Saturday, February 25.

It’s not like the big night in Hollywood – this one is being hosted by St Loman’s GAA and it’s at Mullingar Park Hotel.

But that’s not the biggest difference between the Hollywood version and the Mullingar one... no, it’s that all the actors and actresses are from Mullingar and the surrounding areas!

They are the stars in seven films: The Godfather, The Field, The Snapper, Fr Ted, Bridesmaids, A Few Good Men and 12 Angry Men.

Films have already been set and recorded in locations all around the town and they will be shown live on the big screen on Saturday night.

All you have to do is get your tickets, dress to impress and turn up to Mullingar Park Hotel, walk the red carpet and see what wins the Oskar for Best Film.

Who’ll win Best Actor and Best Actress? Any many more awards on the night!

Doors open 6.30pm and the show stars at 7.30pm. The night is sponsored by Eason Mullingar.

Tickets are available from the Sherry FitzGerald Davitt and Davitt Office on Dominick Street, from any of the actors or contact Tony Plunkett on 087 2024568 after 6pm or Aidan Davitt on 087 8235945.
