Friends concerned over whereabouts of Alan

Concern has arisen for a 51 year old man who was last seen in Mullingar on Wednesday of last week.

Friends of Alan Paterson have notified the gardaí and are appealing to anyone who may have seen him to let the gardaí know.

Patrick Hussey, a friend of the missing man says that Mr Paterson was last seen at the canal near the Harbour Bridge area last Wednesday.

“Alan only has a small circle of friends and it is very unusual that none of us have had contact since last Wednesday and his phone is off,” he says.

Mr Paterson is originally from Glasgow but he has been living in Mullingar since 2003.

However, says Mr Hussey, Mr Paterson has no family in this country.

“He has two brothers, but one of them lives in Scotland and one lives in South Africa.”

While Mr Paterson would occasionally go travelling, his passport is at his home, as are his belongings.

Mr Hussey describes Mr Paterson as being aboout 5'9” in height, of medium build, with slightly greying tightly cropped hair. He always wears a cap.

“He is quiet, polite and a very gentlemanly sort of guy,” he states.

Mr Paterson spends some time with the 1428 Club in Mullingar.
