Mullingar Town Band to present free concert tonight

The Mullingar Town Band is to present a free light programme of music to bring to a close their concert band season for this year.

The event is at 7pm in The County Buildings Atrium Mullingar today, Friday May 5.

Following this concert, the band will be launching into their marching band season to prepare for their upcoming trip to Germany on June 29.

The concert band has been rehearsing for the last few months to prepare for this performance which they are sure their audience will enjoy.

There will be something to suit everyone’s taste with music from Mozart to Shakira and from Blink 182 to John Philip Sousa.

Also performing on the evening will be three band member solos. Aifric Kiernan will put down her trumpet to perform an easy listening classical guitar solo.

Holly McCormack (clarinet) will show off her fiddle playing and Shane Kelly and Reece Bardon will perform a French Horn solo which they played for their Grade 6 exam last winter accompanied by (saxophonist) Gerard Mimnagh Dunne playing the piano.

The band will be running a summer draw on May 12, tickets €5. If you would like to enter the draw, tickets will be available to purchase on the evening.

The Band would like to thank the Arts Office for its assistance with the organisation of this concert.
