Ceilí Community finds a home in Cuan Phadraig

Ceilí Community, a ‘New Movement’ operating under the aegis of the Catholic Church, has found a permanent home in Kilbeggan.

Most Rev Dr Michael Smith, Bishop of Meath, was one of a number of guests who were invited the attend the official opening of Cuan Phadraig, which has been established as the new headquarters of Ceilí Community.

Established for more than 30 years, Ceilí Community is a collective of priests, religious and lay people who promote the renewal of Catholicism in Ireland.

The group has been active in the Westmeath area for some time, and had rented accommodation in Mullingar and Kilbeggan.

The need for a permanent home was identified and the former Mercy Sisters Convent in Kilbeggan was purchased some time ago.

On Sunday June 18, the building, which contains 23 bedrooms, a conference facility with break-out rooms, two chapels, a sitting room and office facilities, was officially blessed and opened and will serve Ceilí Community as the central administrative focus of their pastoral role in the midlands.
