Work to begin on Curraghmore NS September 18

Deputy Peter Burke has confirmed that the commencement notice has issued for Curraghmore NS this week, (September 4) and the contractors will begin on site on Monday September 18.

“I am delighted that works are progressing at Curraghmore NS and that builders will be on site next Monday week to get started on what will be a fantastic new school on the Ardmore Road, “ said Deputy Burke.

“I have been in contact on a weekly basis with the Department of Education for a number of months, seeking updates and ensuring that there are no further delays with the project and I was happy to hear from the minister directly at the end of August confirmation of the start date.

“When it is completed, Curraghmore NS will be a top class facility for all students and staff.”

Deputy Burke said that additional resources were assigned to the project to accelerate certain issues earlier in the year and a review of the design was carried out and improvements incorporated into plans, which he believes will add significant value.

“There was a stated aim to have the project completed in time for September 2018 and I have been working hard to ensure extra funding is being provided to reach this target.

“I have had confirmation that resources have be provided for this.

“I continue to liaise with both the minister and Westmeath County Council and the school on a regular basis to avoid undue delays and to ensure that the school is 100% prepared for all the students who will attend in September 12 months.”
