Man hit by articulated lorry in hospital with serious leg injuries

A pensioner in his 80s was taken to Tullamore Hospital following a collision with an articulated lorry.

The incident happend around 6.20pm on Tuesday evening at Templeroan, Tyrrellspass, on the N52, when the man was crossing the road. 

The man is understood to have suffered serious leg injuries that involve multiple fractures and it is not yet known of they are life-threatening.

The road was closed all of last night and this morning to allow forensic collision investigators to examine the scene. It is expected to re-open this afternoon.
