Lynn Singers Winter Concert, ‘Replenish', in Cathedral of Christ the King next week

A spectacular musical treat is coming your way this winter when the Lynn Singers third Winter Concert, ‘Replenish’, takes place in the splendid surroundings of the Cathedral of Christ the King, Mullingar, on Friday November 24 at 7.30pm.

The choir, under the tutelage of Dervilla Conlon Maloney, whose vision and expertise has brought The Lynn Singers to prominence in national and international festivals of late, will collaborate with some of the world’s finest soloists and musicians on the night.

Sit back in warmth and comfort, and watch as a truly amazing musical extravaganza unfolds, transporting you around the world through the medium of a beautifully crafted programme of choral and chamber music. Culled from many countries and continents, the programme casts a wide net from sacred music to some of Ola Gjeilo’s popular choral works and ethnic folk repertoire.

To add to beautifully modulated voices raised in song with joyful, youthful exuberance, the world class Irish Chamber Orchestra String Quartet will be present on the night. Prepare to be enthralled while they treat us to their usual exceptional performance of their own lively programme while also adding colour and depth to proceedings when collaborating with the Lynn Singers. These featured guests have achieved international acclaim through their sterling performances all over the world. What a privilege to welcome to Mullingar!

And the magic doesn’t stop there as joining The Lynn Singers on the night is the superb male vocal ensemble, Vocative, a renowned group of professional choral singers and soloists who will feature and collaborate with The Lynn Singers on the night. A quality performance is guaranteed from these truly exceptional performers.

An amazing opportunity will be enjoyed by the Cathedral’s own Choristers to practice on the night. These budding vocalists, soloists of the future, will be another lovely local element in the concert. Their enthusiastic young voices will be an added bonus, allowing young and old join together in a spectacular feast of musical excellence.

Our fantastic local artist, Charles Marshall, who is the resident accompanist for The Lynn Singers, will also feature. His dedication and expertise enhances the exceptional local talent that is The Lynn Singers, and a polished performance is once again a given here, such is his total commitment.

This year no less than any other, the Choir and Committee, seek not only to entertain but also to help those among us who are less fortunate, and they have chosen to support the Mullingar Lions Club Christmas Projects from the concert proceeds.

So, put Friday November 24 in your diary for an uplifting night’s entertainment. Tickets are now on sale in the Cathedral Shop, Topic Newsagents and Just Books, and from committee members.

Those who were fortunate enough to be present at the two previous winter concerts in All Saints Church and St Paul’s respectively, will know what a treat is in store at the Cathedral. Go along on the night - you’ll be glad you did!
