Christmas lights on Dominick Street, Mullingar.

Christmas lights switch-on Friday in Mullingar

From Mullingar Town Team,

We are so delighted that the Westmeath Junior Camogie Team - the All Ireland Winning Junior Camogie Team - will switch the Christmas Lights on in Mullingar, this Friday, November 24th, at 5.00pm.

So what’s been happening?

Did you notice the teams of Christmas Light Elves, working for the past few nights in Oliver Plunkett Street, Pearse Street Upper and Pearse Street Lower?

Dominick Street Christmas lights were magnificent over the last few years and we look forward to seeing them again this year.

Mount Street and Austin Friars Street are introducing individual Christmas Trees in their streets this year and we look forward to seeing these displays.

We encourage all streets to decorate your premises either individually or as a group. We know if can be difficult and expensive to co-ordinate this, and we really appreciate every effort.

Sincere thanks to all the Street representatives and the Lighting Teams for organising the Christmas Lights.

Thanks to the businesses who have created their Christmas window displays already and we look forward to seeing many more over the next few weeks.
All these combined efforts will enhance Mullingar, and will be very welcoming for customers and visitors to our town over the Christmas season.

Sorry did I say  -  Our Town?  I meant to say - This Town -  Thanks Niall Horan.
Well done to Niall Horan for winning New Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards.
Joe Dolan conquered Russia. Niall Horan has just conquered America.

Sincere thanks to John Cochrane from The Greville Arms Hotel, for organising DJ Declan Cleary for Friday afternoon.
Sean Lynch - Centre Director in Mullingar Arts Centre tells me that some members of the Peter Pan Cast will make an appearance also. Thank you Sean.
Our contacts in the North Pole have promised us that Santa Claus will visit us for the switching on of the lights.

We would like to extend a special thanks to Alan Conroy for supplying our ‘STAGE’ for this event. This means that everyone will be able see the activities and join in the count down. Thank you Alan.

Mullingar Garda Síochána are on board, as they are mega supporters of Mullingar Town Team and all Mullingar Activities.

Special thanks to Emily Wallace, FG, Westmeath county councillor, for organising and liaising with the Westmeath Camogie Team. Emily also made a proposal to Westmeath County Council that the ladies be honoured with a civic reception by Westmeath County Council.

This will take place at 6pm, immediately after the Mullingar Christmas lights switch-on ceremony. Emily informs us that all fans and supporters of the ladies, are welcome to attend the reception in County Buildings.

Mullingar Chamber have informed us that the Midlands 103 outside broadcast will make an appearance on Friday afternoon. This is being sponsored by Belvedere House/Westmeath County Council. Thanks to Mullingar Chamber for co-ordinating this.

Proposed Itinerary. As with the best laid plans - Please allow for some flexibility - We believe in Christmas miracles.

We are delighted to announce that we will have Christmas Music, at the Market Square, from approximately 4pm.The Westmeath Camogie Team/Entourage will be on stage at 5pm. They will be joined by Peter Pan characters and Santa Claus. We will link with Midlands 103 for live broadcasts.

As the light fades and the darkness descends, the lights will be switched on, and the Christmas season will be officially started in Mullingar.

Mullingar Town Team is both delighted to work with the street representatives for this event. The support we receive from Westmeath County Council, An Garda Síochána, Mullingar Chamber, and the Mullingar Business Community, is much appreciated.
