Delvin ‘Garradrimna' Book Fair Short Story Competition 2018

The Delvin ‘Garradrimna’ Book Fair takes place this year on Sunday May 6 (the bank holiday weekend), and once again the organisers are promoting a short story competition in association with the Westmeath Examiner.

As is now traditional in this competition, participants are invited to write a short story starting with a particular line. This year’s line is:

They say that the eyes are the windows of the soul and, if that is true, then ………

There are two categories, Junior and Senior (18+) and to enter, participants should email their short stories, of between 1,500 and 2,000 words, to digital@celticmediagroup.com or post copies to The Westmeath Examiner, Blackhall, Mullingar, County Westmeath.

The closing date is Tuesday April 6. The winning stories will be published in The Westmeath Examiner.

This year’s prizes: Senior – Overnight Stay and Evening Meal for two in Bloomfield House Hotel; Junior – Family pass for Rock ’n’ Bowl, Mullingar. The runner-up prizes are €50 Just Books vouchers.
