Community effort to power ‘Connecting4Life' for Good2Talk

The inaugural ‘Connecting4Life’ charity cycle, in partnership with Outdoor Escape, launched recently, will celebrate the power of communities coming together in the fight against suicide.

This leisure and family fun cycle is on April 29 from the Mullingar Charity Variety Centre in Forest Park.

Pat Gavin, CEO of Good2Talk, said: “Our Connecting4Life event is symbolic as it represents communities coming together to tackle suicide.
“The theme, based on the national suicide strategy, is all about connection and what ties that bind.

“We know that connections to family, friends and community protect us from isolation while connected services mean that more people can get the right help at the right time in the right place.”
The cycle, with two different routes, is aimed at families and leisure cyclist who may be looking for an active challenge in aid of a good cause.

Family Event

Starting at 11am, the route is Mullingar to Ballinea and return, a total of 10k, with refreshments afterwards to make it a real day out. This route is suitable for children and beginner cyclists.

Leisure Event

Starting at 10.30am, the second route will run from Mullingar to Moate, a total of 62k, via the road and return on the greenway. This is targeted at leisure cyclists who may be training or who are ready for a comfortable challenge.

Mr Gavin said: “We are delighted to partner with Outdoor Escape to launch our Connecting4Life charity cycle.

“We are encouraging everyone to come down and take part – with such a safe route, it is perfect for first-time cyclists. Family tickets of up to four people are available for €20, €5 thereafter or €10 per person.

“In addition, we believe the second route to Moate is a good challenge for those in training or who are confident on their bikes.

“This challenge costs €25 per person which includes registration, insurance and a light lunch on return.”

Official cycle partner Steven Franzoni from Outdoor Escape said; “Outdoor Escape are delighted to partner with Good2Talk to help them organise their first Connecting4Life charity cycle.

“Cycling has become so popular now with families, as it is a sport which they can enjoy together in the fresh air. I really encourage anyone with an interest in cycling to enter and support this good cause.”
