The Reserve Defence Forces are recruiting

The local unit of the Reserve Defence Forces, C Company of the 6th Infantry Battalion, are currently recruiting and are holding an Open Day next Saturday May 19.

C Company, which is now based in a unit in Mullingar Business Park, parade one evening a week in Mullingar. They also train around once a month ( on a Saturday or Sunday) in Custume Barracks, Athlone. Further residential training camps – generally one to two weeks long – take place at different times of the year, mostly during the summer, in barracks and camps around the country. You will be paid for attending the residential training camps.

Members of the unit also take part in tactical exercises alongside the Permanent Defence Forces during the summer,

To join, you must be between 18 and under 35 years old. You will also have to pass a fitness test, an interview, a medical examination, and be cleared by garda security vetting. There are no formal educational qualifications needed.

The Open Day on May 19 is at C Company's training centre at Unit 19, Zone C, Mullingar Business Park (12pm to 3.30pm). The closing date for applications is 23.59pm on June 4.
