The Weather Channel's outlook for Mullingar over the coming week

Is Westmeath about to sizzle in the coming days?

Those of you who put away the gazebos and deckchairs during the recent wind and rain interlude may need to think again over the coming days, with Westmeath happily in the crosshairs of some sizzling temperatures.

Forecasts by The Weather Channel suggest that pleasant weather is set to return to these parts tomorrow (Thursday), with temperatures steadily increasing over the weekend, reaching highs of 26 degrees throughout next week and, possibly, into next weekend.

Storm Hector passed without incident last week, and although the nights have been somewhat chilly of late, that may be about to change dramatically.

Cathal Nolan of the Midland Weather Channel, posting on Facebook yesterday, said that conditions from Thursday onwards are “expected to become warm, dry and sunny with temperatures reaching well into the twenties in many places”.

“A large anticyclone is expected to become centred directly across the country ensuring stable conditions with sunny spells in all areas,” said Cathal.

“Temperatures on Thursday and Friday will typically range between 17-20 degrees Celsius, but reaching as high as 23-25 degrees Celsius by Sunday – the highest temperatures occurring inland, away from any sea breezes.

“The early days of next week look set to remain very warm, dry and sunny.”
