Westmeath IFA dinner dance

At the Westmeath IFA dinner dance at the Bloomfield House Hotel on Saturday night, Padraig Walsh, IFA president, officially launched a Westmeath IFA dvd, featuring the story of Denis Killeen, the Kinnegad farmer who lost an arm in a farm accident. The dvd is aimed at alerting farmers to the danger of farm accidents, and ensuring that if such an incident should occur in the future, there would be both backup and counselling available for the affected parties. Pictured are, from left, Padraig Walsh, Denis Killeen, Paddy Donnelly, chairman of Westmeath IFA, and Phoebe Killeen, with in front, little Gerald Killeen, who was with his father when the accident happened, and who got help, and applied a tourniquet, thereby saving his father's life. Gerald was honoured with a Rehab People of the Year award in January 2008.
