Better balanced, sharp and more fleet of foot, defending champions, Brownstwon clinched their 13th Westmeath Senior Hurling title when ,at Cusack Park, Mullingar on Sunday last, they proved too strong for a gallant but outgunned Castletown-Geoghan side in a contest which failed to live up to high expectations. Lacking the intensity and passion normally associated with this great occasion, the tie was still in the balance at the interval but within seconds of the resumption, Brian Daly inflated the Blues lead to seven points with a splendidly taken and ultimately decisive goal. Final score was Brownstown 2-9 Vs Castletown 2-3
