Cavan Archive News 1st March 1974
Polling took place yesterday ( Thursday ) in the British General Election which included twelve constituencies in Northern Ireland. Our picture above was taken in Moate Primary School polling booth, Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh. Something seems to have caught the attention of the Presiding Officer, Mr. J. McCartney, seated at table in background. The piano in the background would undoubtedly have provided some light entertainment during any lulls in the voting - but who would what tunes ? The RUC constable on right is keeping a watchful eye on things. The count in Northern Ireland starts this ( Friday ) morning, March 1974, issue 7661
