Good start in championship

Our Intermediate team had a good start to the championship when they overcame the first hurdle by beating Cullion. On a final scoreline of Crookedwood 1-10 to Cullion 1-7 The game was played in near ideal conditions despite a little rain before the throw-in.Full credit to the local Ringtown club who had the pitch in excellent shape despite some broken weather condition during the week. The sides were on level terms at the interval at 1-5 apiece, and this score reflected the play in this half.Shane Orme replaced the injured Séamus Savage in the half forward line and Barry Ó Mara was the scorer in chief scoring a total of 1.4 in this first half, with the other point coming early in the contest from Antóin Savage. Kevin Tormey replaced Adam Mitchell on the resumption of play. Here we restarted the half in good style, but as the game progressed we allowed Cullion to come more into the game, but excellent defensive work especially by Damien Grifferty and Alan Ó Mara in the full back kept the opposition at bay during this period of play. David Kelly replaced Michael Savage and Gerry McGovern replaced Tommy Casserly and Karl Foran also came on to the team, and all gave a new urgency to play at vital stages. Our finest period of play was in the closing stages when leading with a three point margin our lads withstood all that the opposition could muster and we stood firm to allow Crookedwood ran out worthy winners.Team: Shane McGovern, Alan O Mara, Damien Grifferty, Enda Murray, Shane Collins, Antóin Savage (0-1), Darren Fulham, Noel Kiernan, Michael Savage, Noel Yourell, Tommy Casserly, Séamus Savage, John Orme (0-1), Adam Mitchell, Barry O"Mara (1-8).Good to see our Club payers doing well for the County over the weekend and all were back in action today in our championship tie.Lotto ResultsThe lotto Jackpot was not won on our last draw.
