Sull shines in Ayr

Streete jockey, James P Sullivan continued his rich vein of form in Ayr yesterday afternoon, claiming victory on 5/1 shot San Cassiano for Ruth Carr and placing in two other of his five rides.

Last week, Sullivan claimed victories on successive days, on Tom Tate’s Empress Ali, in Ripon on Wednesday. The 2/1 shot had too much pace for the field when winning by one and a quarter lengths while 24 hours earlier, Sullivan squeezed 12/1 shot King Torus, priced at 5/1, home by a neck, also at Ripon.

At yesterday’s meeting, James was aboard favourite, the Dianne Sayer trained, Tropenfeuer but had to settle for second place. The 5/2 shot could not match the pace of Lysino which went on to score by eight lengths. Sullivan latter pushed Beckermet, also from the Carr stable, into third place.

The Westmeath man has a busy schedule in Beverley tomorrow afternoon where he is due to take six rides on the card.
