Westmeath hurlers to run Easter camp

Westmeath’s budding young hurling stars of the future will have the chance to learn trade secrets from some of the Lake County’s very best this month, when TEG Cusack Park, Mullingar plays host to a very special Easter hurling camp.

The camp is facilitated by MP Star Coaching, which is run by Westmeath hurling icons Brendan Murtagh and Eoin Price.

This is the first big coaching initiative embarked on by the Clonkill duo, and is aimed at giving boys and girls between the ages of six and 13 an intensive course in key hurling skills.

The camp runs between Monday April 17 and Friday April 21 (9.45am to 2pm each day), and the €55 enrolment fee will earn every participating child a free jersey and other prizes.

Coaching will be facilitated not only by Murtagh and Price, but three other current members of the Westmeath senior hurling panel – Aonghus Clarke (Castletown-Geoghegan), Tommy Gallagher (Castlepollard) and Joey Boyle (Raharney).

To top it all off, All-Ireland winner and All Star forward, Tipperary’s Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher will feature as a special guest trainer and will bring the Liam McCarthy Cup to TEG Cusack Park.
