Upwards of 300 patrons are expected to file through the doors of the magnificently appointed hotel to celebrate the achievemnts of some of Westmeath's finest sportsmen and women.

It is expected that the nomination for the Hall of Fame Award, previously bestowed on Paddy Flanagan and last year's recipient, Albert Lee, will be announced next week.

garry cahill (mullingar) is the national tennis coach. This month alone he has had 4 players in the australian open tennis. One player made 2nd round of mens (louk sorensen)one junior is playing 2nd round tmor. He has been leading coach in ireland for many years and is now the federation cup captain. This deserves recognition, I know its not GAA, BUT ITS A WORLDWIDE SPORT AND A MULLINGAR MAN
