Upwards of 300 patrons are expected to file through the doors of the magnificently appointed hotel to celebrate the achievemnts of some of Westmeath's finest sportsmen and women.

Olympians, World championship medallists, national champions and history makers will all be in attendance to celebrate a year of success in the sporting world.

Taking charge of the festivities on Friday, February 5 will be another proud Westmeath man, Colm Murray, one of RTE's anchor sports presenters, who has conducted the annual pressentation night with such aplomb since its inception. It is expected that the nomination for the Hall of Fame Award, previously bestowed on Paddy Flanagan and last year's recipient, Albert Lee, will be announced next week.

    garry cahill (mullingar) is the national tennis coach. This month alone he has had 4 players in the australian open tennis. One player made 2nd round of mens (louk sorensen)one junior is playing 2nd round tmor. He has been leading coach in ireland for many years and is now the federation cup captain. This deserves recognition, I know its not GAA, BUT ITS A WORLDWIDE SPORT AND A MULLINGAR MAN
