Derrygreenagh planning permission
Dear Editor,We write to you having read the article in the September 13th edition regarding Westmeath County Council"s decision to grant permission to Mr. Kelly for the construction of a house in Derrygreenagh Park Rochfortbridge. It was upsetting to read Mr Kelly"s remarks. If his plans and workmanship are so perfect why must he feel it necessary to condemn the work of others? The people were living happily in this estate before Mr. Kelly"s intrusion and are therefore entitled as part of our planning system to object to his plans. Mr Kelly"s suggestion that to object shows 'jealousy and begrudgery' is typical of the type of person who knows the price of everything but the value of nothing. Is it proper planning to grant permission just because a house will fit? Is their no consideration for an established community? What"s next, one more, or six more houses or 'pension plans'?The planners for the district would do well to take note that Derrygreenagh Park has provided our village with a top class pitch and putt course. Consider this in the context of the three new estates given planning in recent months with not a square inch of these lands available for recreation for the village. Insolently all three new estates were granted permission for a fraction of their capacity due to our new sewer system being full, thus leaving vast portions of these lands empty while at the same time approving this 'after thought add on' in Derrygreenagh Park.Rochfortbridge Development Group supports Derrygreenagh Park Residents" Association"s appeal to An Bord Pleanála and will make an 'observation' to that appeal in the hope that common sense and proper planning will prevail.Yours truly,Colm Arthur(PRO RochfortbridgeDevelopment Group)Rahanine lane,Rochfortbridge,Mullingar.
