Mullingar Chamber of Commerce news
September was a busy month for the Mullingar Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber meetings with the Westmeath County Council and also the Chamber Executive meeting took place in early September. One of the items discussed at the Chambers meeting with the County Council was the renewal of the Sewerage system within the town. The County Council informed the Chamber of the proposed plans and the issues that may arise with regard to the management of the project and the effects that this may have on traffic within the town. Where possible, work will be undertaken underground, reducing the need for road closure and keeping disturbance to the town at a minimum. The Chamber welcomed this approach and also asked to be kept informed of the time lines for the project. It was agreed that the works were necessary in order to facilitate the growth of the town, which is of great importance to both the Chamber and also the County Council.Westmeath Enterprise week also took place from the 8th-12th of September, which created a great buzz within the town. There were an excellent number of events organised by the Westmeath County Enterprise Board, while on the 11th of September a joint Business Networking Event took place between the Westmeath and Offaly Enterprise Boards at the Tullamore Court Hotel with over 80 companies participating from the Athlone, Tullamore and Mullingar areas.Feedback from the event was very positive and it is hoped to hold another event similar to this in the future. The Westmeath Enterprise Awards also took place on the 12th, which was an excellent ending to a busy week. The Mullingar Chamber would like to congratulate ES Digital who won the Westmeath Enterprise award and we wish them all the best representing Westmeath in the Enterprise Ireland Awards in October.Mullingar Chamber also hosted its first Business After Hours Event on Tuesday the 16th of September. The event was kindly hosted by Sherry Fitzgerald Davitt and Davitt Auctioneers and Davitt, Davitt and Wallace Insurance. This is an informal event for members of the Chamber to meet up and network in a relaxed environment for an hour once a month in order to create relationships and get to know other people in businesses within the town with the possibility for these businesses working together in the future. The next event is being hosted by J A Shaw and Company Solicitors, Marlinstown Mullingar and will be held on the 7th of October from 6-7pm.
